Testimonials for 2009 National Taekwon-do Championships Pt 4

Mr Chen Mun Kit (Chief Coach)
"The Nationals have come and gone, but the memories are still fresh. This is not the first time I was appointed the state coach, however, this is the BEST ever Nationals I've attended. I've not seen such strong team work in Perak before. There were no politics, there was only ONE entity....Perak state. I am very happy and proud that Team Manager, Mr Poh and myself have created such passion, teamwork and results from the whole team. We were only given 5 weeks' time to CREATE a whole team out of nothing. Creating from zero really does give a very satisfying sense of accomplishment.

Perak team bagged 8 Gold medals, 1 short to be the Overall National Champion State. However, I felt the friendship, relationships, fellowship, experience etc. that we obtained far surpassed the importance and significance of the Overall National Champion title. We truly rocked the whole hall and we all know we're the true champions. That's what matters.

The trainings that I gave were like hell.....yes, I know and I'm also glad you guys know it's for your own good! :) I saw a lot of improvement in the short 5 weeks, not only technically, but also in terms of attitude. I saw a small young girl (first time representing State) become so passionate and hardworking (guess who) and I also saw a small young boy (first time representing State) always following the team captain to learn and absorb whatever he can to improve his own Patterns. Truly amazing spirit. I am deeply touched.

It is with pride and respect that I end this testimonial and hopefully, we can work together to create even better results in the future, while maintaining our relationship.

Yours in Taekwon-do,

-CMK- "

Mr Phun Wai Joe (Supporter)
"The journey of the championship has passed… as for me (a supporter), I can say that it is a journey of the soul… It gave me a feeling… A feeling that cannot be describe, but whatever it is, it changes me...

I didn’t think before that I can join the championship… Not as a competitor, but as a supporter… this is the 1st time I’m going for a tournament without participating… but it feels the same… the joy, the excitement, the power… was all in my soul… by the time my team was in the ring, I was so excited… as specially when the jury are getting ready to raise the flag, my heart had just stopped… I belief that others will have the same feeling too…

At the end of the day, everyone has put in all their effort… although we didn’t get the overall champion… but don’t give up… it is the end of today… but there is still tomorrow… We’ll get it next year… GO PERAK !!! I’ve learnt that competing is not only for winning, winning doesn’t meant for getting a gold medal, and medals doesn’t prove anything… For those who can’t get even a medal, don’t feel disappointed, I can tell you that you have already won… the sweat, the blood, the tears… will always be appreciated…

Lastly, is it worth to pay that much for something that doesn’t matter to me? I can tell you that is 100% YES!!! No doubt… I didn’t regret paying just for standing beside the ring... and to put my friends an aeroplane that I promise them going to cinema before… By the way, I gain lots of new experiences and friends… the moment we have our meal, the moment we cheer, the moment we watch SUPERMAN, the moment we play poker cards, and don’t forget the moment we made a birthday surprise(Denish came out =.=)… these are all the precious moments we had together…

Before I stop my pen… I would like to thank the whole PERAK TEAM… thanks for giving me so much joy and fun before I take my last SPM paper… I was always wondering that I can’t get back in time… but anyway, thanks is still thanks…
Thank You… "

Ms Tan Aileen (Competitor)
"firstly, i wanna thanks Mr. Chen for inviting me for the selection. at the begining, i wasn't even sure tat i was worthy enough to go for the selection. i was sure glad tat i was selected. it gav me chance to improve n learn new things. i also wanna thank poh sir for being us monkey's team manager(can c u so stress during champs). miss chow for training us gals team, n i wanna appologies to gals team for the mistakes i done during team training. not also forgetting my dear friends, ji ching n yan kee for alwix supporting me n cheering me. thanx ji n qi^^

i like the way sir conducted his trainings. though it was a tough one, it taught us to push ourselves to our limits, improving all da time. i mean how extream can sir go?? 50 push ups n 80 sit ups, 2 sets each every training?? but even though there were trainings tat took up the whole of our weekends, i still think tat we had too little training. perhaps we should hav train more on our own during weekdays.

i can c during the preparation for the national champs, newbies really did put in loads of effort in to improve themselves. sa, had to take 2nd dan test to fill up the 2nd dan individual pattern, kar hui trained real hard to do well in 1st dan pattern. but i think the most geng one is ka chun, where he is like magnet to ban, alwix sticking to ban to learn watever he can to improve his pattern. i saw how they really improved, n they inspired me to train up my patter. i too will train up myself to compete wif them the next round. ( i noe my pattern cha T.T)

during the champs, i would think tat we did wat mr kong n mr chen asked from us, tat is to go as a team. our team spirit was so strong, tat i would noe whenever there was a match going on in other rings, cuz can hear: perak, Perak, PERAK!!!!!!! wow, so damn loud! the whole of ceramic world was eching wif our cheers! i m so proud to b from perak team. its one for all, n all for one!

to me, its not so important tat we did or did not get the overall champs. we went there n did our best (though i was not satisfied wif my individual sparring), n we gained experience there, plus loads of fun added wif sweet n bittermemories(cant really think of any bitter ones, haha, but couldn't forget the memories of tears n sweat). in my opinion, i perak team r sending a lot of experienced ppl. i hope tat next year, chances can b given to newbies to gain experience. this way, we can get quantity cum quality.

it was really an eyes opening experience to go for championships wif u guys! i like da feeling of i m being a part of the tkd family, where everyone is a part of family, nobody forgotten, coaches n seniors mix well wif newbies n juniors. the onli thing i regret is tat i wasn't able to really join tis family till tis year (cuz of senibela, then i started to join tkd family)

love from aileen^^"
