We are interested to open new classes in any location available in Ipoh (eg. schools, gyms, community halls, sports & recreational clubs, government bodies etc.)

Kejohanan Sukan Mempertahankan Diri Kebangsaan 2010

22 – 25 July 2010 – Ipoh City was shaking with the energy of over 2000 energetic and powerful martial artists from all over Malaysia. The Kejohanan Seni Mempertahankan Diri Kebangsaan 2010 was organized by the Kementerian Belia dan Sukan Malaysia for the second time in Ipoh. The last time it was organized in Ipoh was back in the year 2004. 12 different martial arts had their national level championships at 12 different venues at the same time.

Taekwon-do ITF was privileged to be allocated the Ipoh St John Hall. Most importantly, the hall was air-conditioned. 12 states participated and they were Kedah, Kelantan, Pahang, Penang, Selangor, Kuala Lumpur, Malacca, Johor, Sarawak, Terengganu, Negeri Sembilan and of course, Perak. Over 25 qualified Umpires from all the states contributed to fair umpiring. Events such as Individual Patterns, Team Patterns, Individual Free-Sparring, Self-defence Drama and Special Technique were carried out.

Every state demonstrated technical prowess and the overall performance of all ITF practitioners have gone up. After 2 long days of battling all out, the overall results were out where Perak was the Overall Champion with 5 Gold, 4 Silver and 7 Bronze medals. Bravo Perak team! Kudos to the Team Manager, Mr Poh Keng Chong & Coach, Mr Ban Yip Hong. Countless amounts of sweat and effort were put in by these 2 gentlemen.

Medals aside, all members have learned a great deal, not only in terms of skills, but the value of teamwork, friendship, loyalty, unity, confidence and going ALL OUT! :)

Hats off to all who contributed, including the participants, helpers, coaches, team manager and umpires who helped made this event a booming success!
